About Benchworks Optical Lab

The Benchworks Optical Lab was founded by Rick Gomola and George Quiring in 1984, and to this day we are the sole owners and sole employees of the lab. When you visit us for your optical needs you will be talking directly with the optician-owners of the business, not a sales staff, and it will be in the actual lab where the work is done, not a storefront.

Because we lack the overhead that accompanies a sales staff and storefront, we have been able to keep our prices low. That advantage, combined with the reassurance of working with the actual opticians who will be making your eyewear, is why we believe that Benchworks is the best choice for prescription eyewear in the Bay Area.

Being a working lab we request that you make an appointment with us before visiting. Serving our customers by appointment only allows us to focus on our technical work and finish your lenses and frames in a timely manner.
